Beth Stacey
Beth is a junior from Port Washington, Wisconsin, double majoring in Journalism and Biology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is also the science associate editor at the Badger Herald. Beth believes that Open House offers a unique perspective to finding housing in Madison. Not only does it centralize the roommate and housing search, it creates a robust community, allowing people to feel like they found not only a house but a home.
Lizzy Frusciante
Lizzy is a sophomore from Middleton, Wisconsin, double majoring in Journalism and Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She’s also on Alt Magazine’s executive board. Lizzy believes It’s disheartening to have to hear all of her friends’ and peer’s fears about their living situations, rising prices and impossible to find apartments. She’s excited to be a part of this non-profit and possibly help my community.


Parker Neumeier
Parker is a sophomore from Brookfield, Wisconsin, double majoring in Political Science and Journalism with a certificate in French at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She believes that with Open House the housing search is quick to lose all the extra headache, and the app will also combat pricing inflation caused by big-property organizations and will make leases more affordable for the average college students’ budgets.

Alyssa is a sophomore from Winona, Minnesota majoring in Journalism and Communication Arts with a certificate in Sports Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She believes Open House is a good app because it genuinely puts the renter first. This application will promote honest renting practices, creating an easier and more diverse way to find housing in the Madison area. Julia is a freshman from Montague Massachusetts majoring in Journalism with certificates in ILS and Classic Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She loves watching the Boston Celtics and drinking Yerba. She believes that the Madison housing scene is in shambles and students deserve easily accessible and realistically-priced housing. Through a user-friendly layout and local partnerships, Open House will help students find the housing that they need and deserve.
Katherine Canela
Katherine is a junior majoring in Journalism with a certificate in Entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She thinks that open house is a good app because It will facilitate the home searching process for a lot of students. It will also serve as exposure for different landlords and make sure that their availability reaches the right people. Ultimately, this app will serve as middle ground for students and landlords to ensure a good relationship from the beginning of the house searching process.

Dani is a junior from Monona, Wisconsin majoring in Legal Studies and Journalism on the Strategic Communications track, with a certificate in Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dani believes that Open house addresses the housing crisis in Madison, and makes it so people can easily find housing/sublease without the extra cost. She wants to make housing honest, and accessible for everyone.
Kayla Northway
Kayla is a sophomore from Minnetonka, Minnesota majoring in Journalism with certificates in Digital Studies, Digital Media Analytics and Professional Chinese at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She thinks that Open house is a fun and interactive way to find housing that alleviates a lot of stress. Given Madison’s housing crisis, Kayla believes the app will help students find housing that match their budget and preferences so they can find their dream space.


Xintong Shi
Xintong is a sophomore from Hebei, China majoring in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is passionate about Open House because it is designed specifically for student renters—with filters like move-in/move-out dates, proximity to campus, number of roommates, pet policies, and even roommate matching. I believe this app can bring students with a better housing experience.

Zhipu is a sophomore from Guangzhou, China majoring in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He beleives that Open house is a good app, because it uses the most simple and the most efficient way to help people match roommates and housing, saving lots of time and energy.

He believes that Open House will level the playing field between renters and those searching for the house of their dreams. The Madison area housing market will benefit, but more importantly the entire housing process will be significantly easier.

Xitllali is a junior from New Berlin, Wisconsin majoring in Journalism on the Strategic Communications track at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with certificates in Digital Media Analytics and Science Communications. She believes that traditional platforms don’t cater to budget-conscious students or recent grads navigating unfamiliar cities. Luckily, Open House fills in that gap and is built with one mission: to make finding housing and roommates simple, accessible, and stress-free.


Zoe Lulinski
Zoe is a sophomore from Stoughton, Wisconsin majoring in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a certificate in Sports Communication. She thinks Open House is helpful in finding housing safely and quickly. This is often something done at the beginning of every school year and this app can make it a much easier experience.
